I've finally took out the boxes of super sculpey and just do a random figure. Procrastination is my worst enemy. Well now that i've got plenty of time at hand, might as well start doing things i've been pushing away till now... the includes driving =X

Uber Massive gathering in July

Hi all, just a little update on the up coming july gathering.

The stage has been set and all preparation are running as we speak. =)

just a quick update and shout out loud to those catching this blog, It is going to be a POT LUCK / Games and performance night. So interested parties, in fact we encourage ALL to contribute a little to make this night more filling.

Location will be at Aranda Country Club, 11th 12th and 13th July. for 11th, main party will only start at around 6pm.

I'm still looking for more to donate clothes, cloth and linen!

DMD gathering / cosfest 2009 chalet

Hey everyone,

(fyi. This isn't really the actual invite, rather a notification prior to the invite itself, so that people are informed early, and so we can finalize a guest list to let us decide on the smaller details.)

A bunch of us guys are organizing a chalet tentatively set on the nights of the 10th (fri) to the 12th (sun) on the month of July '09. Originally the idea of it was to give those of us attending Cosfest '09 a nice place to crash at, and for those who are cosplaying a good place to use as a changing room. But we ultimately decided to upscale it to what we hope is a massive gathering.

We are planning to have it at the Aranda resort at downtown east. It's a really nice place, fully air conditioned, with ample space for 20+ people. There will be a BBQ on the night of 11th (Sat), and there will be many planned activities and entertainment, all being prepared by the best minds in our cohort. And in the background of all this, Cosfest '09 will be going on at the Downtown east pavilion, on the 11th and the 12th. Some of us will be participating, some to snap some photographs, and others just going there to enjoy the one-of-a-kind atmosphere only found at a cosplay event. A more complete schedule will be included on the invite mail. Planning for this chalet will be a lot of work, but we are thouroughly dedicated to making this a f*ckin awesome event.

Here's where we need your help. Without a healthy attendance, this event will be a thoroughly epic failure. We're looking for at least 20 people, preferably around 30 or more, to attend this chalet. And as most of us are either working or serving NS, staying overnight is entirely your choice, although we thoroughly encourage you to do so. Your attendance is extremely appreciated. Also, to help alleviate the costs we have to bear on organizing this gathering, we require those who are coming to provide a $10 deposit first. Some people might get turned off by this, (what? aren't i already doin them a favor by goin?!?) but please understand that most of us organizers are NSFs, we don't earn much. We won't bluff you, chances are you might to pay abit more during the gathering itself, to cover for unforseen costs, or people who don't show up, forcing us to readjust the amount per person. On our part, we will do our best to make this an event totally worth your money, coz in the end, we're doing this not for ourselves, but for everyone to come and enjoy a night of good fun with old friends.

Was really busy with the Company Tactics course and this advance infantry blah blah blah course for the past 6 weeks... 4 more weeks to go before i can go back to my unit... Zzz... kinda miss the life in unit, atleast can do what i wanna do. Too much planning consideration for everything, too much doctrines, too much checklist, too much military terminology... i think its going to be quite hard to grow out of it, refrain from using those terms outside. i will sound very patriotic though.

Oook not forgetting to mention the opening for Arts, design, media course in NTU is open for registration now, so also trying to dig up some time amongst the chionging to put together my portfolio and ofcos, trying to put together the faculty tests required. i must say though, the drawing / sketching sessions had paid off, got quite a bit of sketches to put into the book. may be sketches for now, just a bit of shading here and there and its as good as a final.

I admit i am not like those pros who can just sketch anything out on paper straight from their brains from scratch. i need REFERENCES before i can start designing, more importantly i need a specific direction as well if not i will be stoning there 0_o. did some thumbnail sketch to get a feel of how i want the character to look like, some sketches for the Character Design 01 theme from the wearezupid blog. will refine on one of it further and maybe do a 3d version of it too if i have the time, its been a while since my last 3d work. damn i need to work hard.

Unnamed as of yet. She was born out of an idea in my head, of how a modern tolkien-esque fantasy world would look like. And in this world, Elves would become...

Lol. Altho hippies don't really shoot people with arrows or anything, can't have an elf without the bow ya. This is just an initial design really, gonna make her even more hippie, psychedelic colors, wierd clothes and all that.

Character Design 01

Hi all,

this is for the benefit of those who weren't at the drawin session today.

New current theme - Character design 01

This is something realllllllly simple all of us can do. Just think up and sketch out a character, an entirely new one, or a old one you've thought up before. doesn't matter. After that, do a full body pose for that character and CG it. And last thing you would need, also the hardest part, is a full CG piece of that character in some kinda scene, background and all.

Simple eh?

So end of it all, all you need is :
Sketches
1 full body pose CG
1 complete CG

That's it. Easy to understand, but involves enough work so we don't get too lazy. I would have preferred no deadline, but some people would prob get all lazy and not do anything.

Deadline : End of March '09. if that isn't enough time, please jump off a very high building.

When it's all done, i'll either get someone or myself to layout all of them nicely, into something like a book. then we could print it for ourselves. might be useful =]

Possible topic for the blog~

The current logo is good but its always interesting to see what it can become!

Anyway, I was thinking is it possible if we can do some game design. Like we think of a imaginary client that hired all of us to do a MMORPG game. (Could be anything from Real Time Strategy, First Person Shooting and it can be even Side Scrolling game!) Don't really have to be a MMORPG. We will really design everything, from the story, characters, equipment, props till level and user-interface design. I believe this will utilize everyone speciality. Like i know Yuling do a lot of design stuffs at her company, the U.I definitely need her. Yaohui is spendid with 3D, IZ characters and i believe some of us here has wonderful story in mind. It will be nice if we take a small step.

By the way, I for one is up for side scrolling game! There are too many 3D games out there now. Metal Slug, Mario and Maple Story still has their charm (Dun flame me, I know a lot of ppl hate Maple Story... I just need examples :)) If we can design it, i can even get it flashed and scripted. Possibly really launch it as a game.

What you guys think? I'm still open to any other activities in this blog! No problem with that.

Right now i'm going on a 3 months company tactics course... studying like mad right now... learning more about the army and higher appointments that is to come. not going to go into details...

well, something to look forward to... when i'm more free, we'll probably revise on the card game. anyone knows the game Citadel? yea... we are going to change it to go towards that direction.

second thing is, i'm making a theme for T-shirt design... yup, just gonna be posting the theme with different titles, choose the titles and design in your perception of the theme and send it back to me, all designs will probably get posted back here and we'll see how wanna have a piece of that shirt and i'll look into printing it =)

And ofcoz, our identity.... gonna kick start a logo design competition? haha... 8D was intended as a temporily signature of this website... can choose to keep it, or do something more powerful. your choice...

Anyways, we gonna have a sketch thing this saturday. Need ideas for a location, or we can just go to our default TCC opposite sunshine plaza.

And at this sketch thing i wanna discuss with you all about the comic panel thingy, since some complaints have surfaced regarding the 'randomness' of it all.

Plus also wanna throw up this idea to you guys for another theme. It's quite simple really, we all just need to do design a character, then do 2 CGs for it, one being a full body piece with no background (like those you see in character layouts) and the other a CG with full background included. And also provide the developmental sketches. I'm thinking of a theme along the lines of 'modern fashion', which is rather open for interpretation. All the work can be compiled into a nice little book that would look rather cool in our portfolios =D

Just a little idea i had about half an hour ago, while i was looking at some... stuff.
