I admit i am not like those pros who can just sketch anything out on paper straight from their brains from scratch. i need REFERENCES before i can start designing, more importantly i need a specific direction as well if not i will be stoning there 0_o. did some thumbnail sketch to get a feel of how i want the character to look like, some sketches for the Character Design 01 theme from the wearezupid blog. will refine on one of it further and maybe do a 3d version of it too if i have the time, its been a while since my last 3d work. damn i need to work hard.

Transformers: revenge of the fallen, another movie that is definitely worth to watch, new robots will be coming out in the movie as well as more action. You get to see how big the fallen was than optimus prime when they were fighting.the teaser trailer is out 0_o




G.I. Joe the rise of the cobra, a live action movie depicted from comic book. personally i have heard of G.I. Joe but nv read the comics before. Its from the director of the mummy so i guess that's something we can look forward. attached the teaser trailer on top.

Unnamed as of yet. She was born out of an idea in my head, of how a modern tolkien-esque fantasy world would look like. And in this world, Elves would become...

Lol. Altho hippies don't really shoot people with arrows or anything, can't have an elf without the bow ya. This is just an initial design really, gonna make her even more hippie, psychedelic colors, wierd clothes and all that.

Character Design 01

Hi all,

this is for the benefit of those who weren't at the drawin session today.

New current theme - Character design 01

This is something realllllllly simple all of us can do. Just think up and sketch out a character, an entirely new one, or a old one you've thought up before. doesn't matter. After that, do a full body pose for that character and CG it. And last thing you would need, also the hardest part, is a full CG piece of that character in some kinda scene, background and all.

Simple eh?

So end of it all, all you need is :
Sketches
1 full body pose CG
1 complete CG

That's it. Easy to understand, but involves enough work so we don't get too lazy. I would have preferred no deadline, but some people would prob get all lazy and not do anything.

Deadline : End of March '09. if that isn't enough time, please jump off a very high building.

When it's all done, i'll either get someone or myself to layout all of them nicely, into something like a book. then we could print it for ourselves. might be useful =]

Possible topic for the blog~

The current logo is good but its always interesting to see what it can become!

Anyway, I was thinking is it possible if we can do some game design. Like we think of a imaginary client that hired all of us to do a MMORPG game. (Could be anything from Real Time Strategy, First Person Shooting and it can be even Side Scrolling game!) Don't really have to be a MMORPG. We will really design everything, from the story, characters, equipment, props till level and user-interface design. I believe this will utilize everyone speciality. Like i know Yuling do a lot of design stuffs at her company, the U.I definitely need her. Yaohui is spendid with 3D, IZ characters and i believe some of us here has wonderful story in mind. It will be nice if we take a small step.

By the way, I for one is up for side scrolling game! There are too many 3D games out there now. Metal Slug, Mario and Maple Story still has their charm (Dun flame me, I know a lot of ppl hate Maple Story... I just need examples :)) If we can design it, i can even get it flashed and scripted. Possibly really launch it as a game.

What you guys think? I'm still open to any other activities in this blog! No problem with that.

Man.... for my inactivity...

Right now i'm going on a 3 months company tactics course... studying like mad right now... learning more about the army and higher appointments that is to come. not going to go into details...

well, something to look forward to... when i'm more free, we'll probably revise on the card game. anyone knows the game Citadel? yea... we are going to change it to go towards that direction.

second thing is, i'm making a theme for T-shirt design... yup, just gonna be posting the theme with different titles, choose the titles and design in your perception of the theme and send it back to me, all designs will probably get posted back here and we'll see how wanna have a piece of that shirt and i'll look into printing it =)

And ofcoz, our identity.... gonna kick start a logo design competition? haha... 8D was intended as a temporily signature of this website... can choose to keep it, or do something more powerful. your choice...

btw, recently, i went to my friend's house to get my sketches all scaned and put into my ipod... i've got about 100+ sketches.. how many have you got? ( haha, some sort of reflection )

Anyways, we gonna have a sketch thing this saturday. Need ideas for a location, or we can just go to our default TCC opposite sunshine plaza.

And at this sketch thing i wanna discuss with you all about the comic panel thingy, since some complaints have surfaced regarding the 'randomness' of it all.

Plus also wanna throw up this idea to you guys for another theme. It's quite simple really, we all just need to do design a character, then do 2 CGs for it, one being a full body piece with no background (like those you see in character layouts) and the other a CG with full background included. And also provide the developmental sketches. I'm thinking of a theme along the lines of 'modern fashion', which is rather open for interpretation. All the work can be compiled into a nice little book that would look rather cool in our portfolios =D

Just a little idea i had about half an hour ago, while i was looking at some... stuff.

no elaboration needed.

Whose Panel Is It Anyway?

HI ALL.

This is one we've talked about for a while now, finally going to set things in place.


WHOSE PANEL IS IT ANYWAY?

- How it works.
A person will be selected as the host (selection method further down) each time we do this theme. The host will then pick either a one page panel, or a 2 page spread panel from ANY comic book he desires, trace out the frames within the panel or panels, and then number them randomly.

After that is done, all participants in the theme must then pick any number. When everyone has a number, the host will send all the participants the panel layout. The participants will then draw within their selected frame. OVERLAPPING THE FRAME IS NOT ALLOWED. Any overlaps will be deleted.

When all participants are done, or when the pre-decided time frame has elapsed, all work must be sent to the host. The host will then compile the works into one, and then release the complete piece or post it on the blog.


- How is the host selected?
This is the fun part. After all the participants have gotten their numbers and the host has released the layout, the participants must then guess which comic the panel layout originated from. The host must release a clue to aid the participants in their guesses. There is no limitation on the clue, it can be as easy or as hard as you deem it fit, just so long as it IS a workable clue. The first participant to guess correctly will become the next host. If no one manages to guess it right, the current host retains his position.


- Can you explain more about being the host?
The host does the most work. Aside from choosing the panel or panels, and subsequently cleaning it up, the host also has to collect and compile all the works when done. However, the host can choose whether or not he wants to contribute to that particular event. He may choose not to add his work to the panel, but he still has to do all the other tasks. The benefit of being the host is that you get first pick on whichever frame you desire on the panel you selected.


- What will the layout be like?
It will be a PSD file containing nothing but the empty panel(s), and their numbers. The PSD will be zipped and uploaded onto any file-hosting site, for the convenience and easy access of all participants.


- How do i submit my work?
Simply send the zipped PSD of your work to the host via any channels, be it MSN, file-hosting, or email. Just so long as the host successfully recieves the finished piece.


- What can i draw?
You're the artist. Be creative. Feel free to add text boxes or any other comic book elements into your frame. JUST SO LONG AS YOU DO NOT OVERLAP OTHER FRAMES. The only exception to the overlapping rule is that you have permission from the person whose frame you are going to overlap. If he/she allows it, then so be it.


- Color or Black/White?
This one should be decided by all participants before the theme is started.


- How long do we have?
This one should also be decided by all participants before the theme is started.
