DMD gathering / cosfest 2009 chalet
Hey everyone,
(fyi. This isn't really the actual invite, rather a notification prior to the invite itself, so that people are informed early, and so we can finalize a guest list to let us decide on the smaller details.)
A bunch of us guys are organizing a chalet tentatively set on the nights of the 10th (fri) to the 12th (sun) on the month of July '09. Originally the idea of it was to give those of us attending Cosfest '09 a nice place to crash at, and for those who are cosplaying a good place to use as a changing room. But we ultimately decided to upscale it to what we hope is a massive gathering.
We are planning to have it at the Aranda resort at downtown east. It's a really nice place, fully air conditioned, with ample space for 20+ people. There will be a BBQ on the night of 11th (Sat), and there will be many planned activities and entertainment, all being prepared by the best minds in our cohort. And in the background of all this, Cosfest '09 will be going on at the Downtown east pavilion, on the 11th and the 12th. Some of us will be participating, some to snap some photographs, and others just going there to enjoy the one-of-a-kind atmosphere only found at a cosplay event. A more complete schedule will be included on the invite mail. Planning for this chalet will be a lot of work, but we are thouroughly dedicated to making this a f*ckin awesome event.
Here's where we need your help. Without a healthy attendance, this event will be a thoroughly epic failure. We're looking for at least 20 people, preferably around 30 or more, to attend this chalet. And as most of us are either working or serving NS, staying overnight is entirely your choice, although we thoroughly encourage you to do so. Your attendance is extremely appreciated. Also, to help alleviate the costs we have to bear on organizing this gathering, we require those who are coming to provide a $10 deposit first. Some people might get turned off by this, (what? aren't i already doin them a favor by goin?!?) but please understand that most of us organizers are NSFs, we don't earn much. We won't bluff you, chances are you might to pay abit more during the gathering itself, to cover for unforseen costs, or people who don't show up, forcing us to readjust the amount per person. On our part, we will do our best to make this an event totally worth your money, coz in the end, we're doing this not for ourselves, but for everyone to come and enjoy a night of good fun with old friends.

cool movies coming up in this year
Transformers: revenge of the fallen, another movie that is definitely worth to watch, new robots will be coming out in the movie as well as more action. You get to see how big the fallen was than optimus prime when they were fighting.the teaser trailer is out 0_o
G.I. Joe the rise of the cobra, a live action movie depicted from comic book. personally i have heard of G.I. Joe but nv read the comics before. Its from the director of the mummy so i guess that's something we can look forward. attached the teaser trailer on top.

Possible topic for the blog~
The current logo is good but its always interesting to see what it can become!
Anyway, I was thinking is it possible if we can do some game design. Like we think of a imaginary client that hired all of us to do a MMORPG game. (Could be anything from Real Time Strategy, First Person Shooting and it can be even Side Scrolling game!) Don't really have to be a MMORPG. We will really design everything, from the story, characters, equipment, props till level and user-interface design. I believe this will utilize everyone speciality. Like i know Yuling do a lot of design stuffs at her company, the U.I definitely need her. Yaohui is spendid with 3D, IZ characters and i believe some of us here has wonderful story in mind. It will be nice if we take a small step.
By the way, I for one is up for side scrolling game! There are too many 3D games out there now. Metal Slug, Mario and Maple Story still has their charm (Dun flame me, I know a lot of ppl hate Maple Story... I just need examples :)) If we can design it, i can even get it flashed and scripted. Possibly really launch it as a game.
What you guys think? I'm still open to any other activities in this blog! No problem with that.

This blog is dead.
So dead.
Anyways, we gonna have a sketch thing this saturday. Need ideas for a location, or we can just go to our default TCC opposite sunshine plaza.
And at this sketch thing i wanna discuss with you all about the comic panel thingy, since some complaints have surfaced regarding the 'randomness' of it all.
Plus also wanna throw up this idea to you guys for another theme. It's quite simple really, we all just need to do design a character, then do 2 CGs for it, one being a full body piece with no background (like those you see in character layouts) and the other a CG with full background included. And also provide the developmental sketches. I'm thinking of a theme along the lines of 'modern fashion', which is rather open for interpretation. All the work can be compiled into a nice little book that would look rather cool in our portfolios =D
Just a little idea i had about half an hour ago, while i was looking at some... stuff.
no elaboration needed.

Dragonball 2009 movie teaser trailer
The teaser trailer was just released for the upcoming dragonball movie next year. man it totally doesn't go with the manga.the story is twisted. goku, piccolo, master roshi etc seems so different. is it a film to look forward to? or is it just a film not worth watching anymore. i was looking so forward to it when they release news about wanting to make a dragonball movie but when i start seeing the cast comes out they totally ruin it. -_-

The Disappearance of Isaac

Before i leave this wednesday, wanna make a few changes.
Ignore the layout thing, i think everyone is wayyy more interested in makin cards at the moment than workin on the layout. That one can be done in post production.
So it's official now, everyone PLEASE start making the cards using the layouts supplied. Doesn't have to be the final artwork at the moment, just so long as there's something there, and the card is playable, we can use it. The main aim now is to get enough cards so we can do a play test of sorts to set the rules of the game, and also to balance the cards created. I'm pretty damned sure some idiot will make an IMBA card.
With that settled, i can move on to more random stuff.
Lol, i'm sorry, but i just had to put hirano aya on the banner. She's just too damned cute. (fyi for all those who don't know, she's the voice actress for suzumiya haruhi and konata)
And a couple random lucky star vids. Classic.
Lol.
Just downloaded the OVA, gonna go watch it asap.
Oh, anyone want anything from Aussie-land? SMS me or something.
Be back on the 18th of November (SO FCKIN LONGGGGGGGG) And if i'm not wrong, the weekend after that is the Anime Festival Asia. We should totally meet up and eat kuishinbo before that. LOL. I'll plan for that when i come back i guess.

THE GATHERING
Okay, it's definitely gonna be 27th September, or the coming saturday.
From what i can see, im guessing its gonna be rock band most of the noon, and perhaps soul calibur 4 and other games later on in the evening (when henry comes =] ) We still have lotsa leftover alcohol at sean's place, so those who drink, you know what's comin. Besides games we have... more games! Board games, card games, old games, new games, drinking games...
BUT there is no fixed schedule. which equals = do what we want when we want to do when we feel like doing. or watever.
It starts noon, 1pm onwards. No fixed time, so all just drop down when you feel like it. But later = less gaming, which defeats the purpose. Feel free to go off anytime also, but overnighting is slightly encouraged. Got more 'Spirit'. Lol.
Well, to summarize, we're gonna meet up to have good fun at minimum expense. Nothin like chillin with friends eh.
Questions - comment / shout.

New! Current Theme! A Gathering! Yay!
Hi all!
Sorry it took so long, had to clean up my layers.
CURRENT THEME - CARD GAME LAYOUT DESIGN
I'm sure by now everyone is aware of the card game theme in progress. The rough layouts of the cards have been sorta decided on, now what we need is a proper layout on the cards. It doesn't have to be anything super fancy, just grab some nice textures online, slap em on, and adjust colors accordingly. Feel free to experiment.
Also, be aware there is no fixed theme in all of this, our concept is that of an open-world design, so try not to make your layout too focused on any one style i.e. fantasy, sci-fi e.t.c.
And oh, before i forget. [FILE]
Deadline... 3 weeks. 28th September. Should be ample time, unless you're doin something insane.
If you want to, you can modify the card content to your liking, don't have to use what i left there. That was just for test purposes.
Any questions? Comment here or shout.

LET'S PLAY GAMESSSSSSSss. Rock band! Soul calibur! Whatever!!!
It's also sorta my last gathering with you guys for about 50 days starting October. Army's flying me off to Australia (not Gold Coast, the DESERT) for Exercise Wallaby. Sigh. So yea, wanna get everyone together to do stuff. Most probably a whole day thing, starting like around noon till night, how late depends on you, overnight for the best experience. =D
As for location, I'm sure most of you are pretty much sick of going to Sean's place. It's big and comfy, but hard to find and needs some travelling from the nearest MRT station. But then again, it IS big and comfy, plus all the booze from the last party is still there, and he has the rock band drums, so we don't have to get someone else *cough* to carry them around. But then again, logistics are easy once we have a good location.
Anyone knows of a similar or better place we can hold this at? Please share. Comment / Shout.
